Long Beach Notary Public FAQs

A Notary Public is an official commissioned by the state (in my case, the state of California) to serve as an impartial witness when important documents are signed.

Their role is to deter fraud by verifying the identity of signers, ensuring they understand what they’re signing, and confirming they’re doing so willingly. Notaries don’t provide legal advice—they simply follow set procedures to help protect the integrity of your documents.

Notaries confirm the identity of the person signing a document, ensure the document is complete, and verify that the signer understands and is signing willingly.

In some cases, like affidavits, the Notary may also administer an oath or affirmation.

Notaries are often involved in important moments, such as buying a home, assigning power of attorney, or finalizing estate plans.

We work with a wide range of local businesses and law firms throughout Long Beach who rely on quick, reliable notarization for their daily operations. This includes real estate agents handling property transfers and attorneys preparing legal filings.

Some other types of businesses that a notary public can assist include:

  • Car dealerships and auto brokers

  • Mortgage and title companies

  • Law firms and solo attorneys

  • Insurance agencies

  • Construction and contracting firms

  • Schools, both private and public

  • Healthcare providers and care facilities

If your business deals with contracts, affidavits, powers of attorney, or other official documents, we can provide on-site or mobile notary services to save you time.

Yes, since we also offer mobile services we are not always in the office. For hours and availability, please visit my Contact page.

It depends on the type of service and how many documents you need help with.

Most standard notarizations take about 5–10 minutes per signature. Appointments involving Apostilles, legal document preparation, or estate planning may take longer.

When you book, we’ll give you a time estimate based on the service you need.

Anyone whose signature needs to be notarized must be physically present with a valid form of ID:

  • U.S. Passport
  • Valid Passport from the Signer’s Country of Citizenship
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Official Non-Driver ID Card Issued by the State of CA or another U.S. State

For other services—like document preparation or translations—requirements may vary slightly. We’ll confirm who needs to be present when we schedule your appointment.

No! Since many documents require the signing to be physically witnessed by the notary, please wait and save all signatures for your appointment.

  • Fully completed and accurate documents (excluding any signatures and notary sections)
  • Valid form of ID

If your service involves additional paperwork—like Apostilles, translations, or legal document prep—we’ll let you know if anything else is needed when we confirm your appointment.

Our office is located in Bixby Knolls, Long Beach, and we offer mobile services throughout Los Angeles County and Orange County.

Yes, these are just some examples of locations we travel to when providing mobile notary services in and around the Long Beach area:

  • Hospitals
  • Home visits
  • Convalescent Homes
  • Correctional Facilities
  • Places of Business

Notaries themselves don’t issue Apostilles, but many—like our notaries at L.B. Notary Public & Document Services—offer Apostille services as part of a complete document handling process. That means we can notarize your documents (if needed) and then manage the Apostille request with the California Secretary of State or appropriate government agency.

This service is especially helpful if you’re sending documents overseas and want to avoid delays or confusion. We’ll make sure your paperwork is prepared correctly, submitted on time, and returned to you quickly—no extra steps on your end.
